No one disagrees with the highest standards of loving others as ourselves, and loving without condition. And yet, there are so many challenges and so many difficulties. How can we keep our eyes on the Light when there is so much to distract us?

If we look deeply into the difficulties most of us experience with loving unconditionally, we invariably find that we have unmet expectations of others, of ourselves, of relationships, and of community. Just as Jesus told us you can’ t pour new wine into old wineskins, so it is that you can’ t love without dealing with the conditions that are the source of our disenchantments.
