Greetings from the
Prayer Chaplains
|
|
Dear Friends,
I trust this finds you well.
I have a question for you…Have you ever considered becoming a Prayer Chaplain?
Serving as a Prayer Chaplain is one of the most rewarding experiences you will ever have. It is transformative soul work. At Unity Renaissance we currently have 14 Prayer Chaplains. We have some prayer chaplains that have served 2 years, some that have served nearly 20 years and every amount of time in between!
Many of our Prayer Chaplain’s report that they stepped in to serve others but found that it blessed and benefited themselves most of all. It is a role that will help you discover your greatness and the greatness of others. We are here to love and support you if you would enjoy taking this next step on your spiritual journey.
The role of our Prayer Chaplain’s is, quite simply, to pray.
If you would like more information, please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions you have. I can be reached at revann@unityren.org
With love and many blessings,
Rev. Ann

Prayer Chaplain Testimonials:
“Being a Prayer Chaplain has changed my life. I was called to join and knew it was the right thing, but it was a little scary for me at first. That did not last long with all the support and training from this wonderful team. I joined with the intention to make a difference and to help others and had no idea the impact it would have in my own life.”
Audrey Hiltke, Prayer Chaplain since 2019
“I love and chose to become a Prayer Chaplain because I get to plant seeds of love in someone’s heart. This brings me so much joy. There isn’t anything better in life than being present in love and joy. Well, maybe eating Italian cookies which I can’t offer people so they get the seeds of love instead!”
Christine Goodman, Prayer Chaplain since 2017
“Being a Prayer Chaplain has been one of the best most rewarding experiences of my life! Being able to uplift congregant’s spirits through affirmative prayer has helped me deepen my own faith and power of prayer. I have had depression intermittently throughout my life but the prayer chaplaincy has helped me heal and find joy so now I am paying and praying it forward.”
Grace Bohannon, Prayer Chaplain since 2016
“For me, being a Prayer Chaplain is about being open and surrendered to Spirit for my own spiritual journey as well as for holding sacred space with others. I have come to the realization that as I have prayed with others, I have just prayed for myself in one way or the other. How better could Oneness express?”
Sam Akompong, Prayer Chaplain since 2006

Metaphysics Made Easy
On Zoom with Rev. Dr. Paul Hasselbeck
Four Wednesday nights at 7 p.m.
Rev. Dr. Paul Hasselbeck, Unity’s foremost teacher of metaphysics (the study of the nonphysical, intangible aspects of life), joins us on Zoom for this provocative four-week class on the spiritual questions people ponder most, such as: What is the nature of God? What is the nature of humankind? What is the nature of our relationship with God? How are we to think about heaven and hell, and the problem of evil? Rev. Paul takes the classic Unity teachings and updates them for contemporary language and understanding, challenging our embedded theology along the way, and assuring lively debate and discussion. The class will be held at 7 p.m. on four Wednesdays beginning Aug. 3. Register on our website, our app, or on the Signup Wall in the Narthex. $20 per class.

Higher Consciousness Film
“Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret”
7 p.m. Friday, September 2
Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret is a groundbreaking feature-length environmental documentary following intrepid filmmaker Kip Andersen as he uncovers the most destructive industry facing the planet today – and investigates why the world’s leading environmental organizations are too afraid to talk about it.
Animal agriculture is the leading cause of deforestation, water consumption and pollution, is responsible for more greenhouse gases than the transportation industry, and is a primary driver of rainforest destruction, species extinction, habitat loss, topsoil erosion, ocean “dead zones,” and virtually every other environmental ill. Yet it goes on, almost entirely unchallenged.
As Andersen approaches leaders in the environmental movement, he increasingly uncovers what appears to be an intentional refusal to discuss the issue of animal agriculture, while industry whistleblowers and watchdogs warn him of the risks to his freedom and even his life if he dares to persist.
As eye-opening as Blackfish and as inspiring as An Inconvenient Truth, this shocking yet humorous documentary reveals the absolutely devastating environmental impact large-scale factory farming has on our planet, and offers a path to global sustainability for a growing population.
Free popcorn and free admission. Discussion follows the film.

‘The Unjudged Experiment’
Building ‘trust’ one conversation at a time
Unity Renaissance is an increasingly diverse spiritual community. Our services on Sunday reflect this growth. Central to our core values is the belief that all are welcomed here but how often do we have the opportunity to truly connect with others from different backgrounds in heartfelt ways?
A group here at Unity Renaissance has embarked on a project called “The Unjudged Experiment” designed to help us see, hear, and connect with each other through a series of one-on-one conversations. The goal is to build trust and enhance understanding across racial and cultural divisions within our community. When we recognize the context of our neighbors’ life experiences, we are challenging bias head on.
The “Unjudged Experiment” will be held on Saturday, October 22nd. Right now we are recruiting volunteer Presenters. If you have experienced bias or felt judged in your life and are willing to share your story with others, we want to hear from you. Please contact us at ( namaskar13@aol.com) or complete the application form (see the link below). Please submit your application to be a Presenter by Oct. 1st.
We will provide information regarding how to participate as a Seeker, someone who comes to listen, learn, and connect with their neighbor, closer to the event.
“The Unjudged Experiment” is a path to beholding, affirming, and embracing the brother or sister sitting next to you on Sunday. Whether you enter as a Presenter or a Seeker, the Unjudged Experiment promises to be an experience that will transform your life.
We are looking forward to hearing from you.
