Dear Friends,
As I shared last Sunday, Confucius (551 B.C.E.-479 B.C.E.) was a gentleman and a scholar whose philosophy emphasized virtue and morality. Here are some of his notable teachings:
- Respect yourself and others will respect you.
- It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.
- To be wronged is nothing unless you continue to remember it.
- If we don’t know life, how can we know death?
- We should feel sorrow, but not sink under its oppression.
- When anger rises, think of the consequences.
- If you think in terms of a year, plant a seed; if in terms of 10 years, plant trees; if in terms of 100 years, teach the people.
It is such a joy to rediscover the wisdom of these ancient sages and apply it to our lives today! This Sunday, I’ll be focusing on the life and teachings of the Buddha. Join us!
Much love,
Rev. Paula
