Rev. Richard Bunch,
Transitional Minister

|
Having just returned from the Unity Worldwide Ministries annual convention I realize how blessed I am to be working with your Board, your staff and so many of you who are the foundation of Unity Renaissance.
The most inspirational moment for me was attending the graduate service for our new Unity ministers. The ceremony honored the ordination of ministers who displayed the array of people who attend Unity throughout the world. The graduates represented different cultures, different countries, different races, and people having different sexual preferences. But most importantly, in their diversity there was inclusivity and oneness.
I was so proud to be a member of Unity. What I witnessed was a picture in my mind and heart of Unity Renaissance. Seeing Rev. Ann DeMichael being ordained was a great privilege. Her wisdom and love support the spiritual growth of each individual member of our ministry. We are truly blessed, Yea Spirit!
It won’t be long before the Search team completes the Ministerial Package which will attract the perfect minister for Unity Renaissance. In early fall, I am certain that the members will be introduced to one or more candidates who will have the spiritual intelligence and skills to support each of you on your spiritual journey.
You are transformed lives transforming and loving all who are seeking a new and dynamic relationship with the “Self” within.
Blessings,
Rev. Richard Bunch

This three-week class will focus on our awareness of personal family systems, as well as church family systems. Dr. Murray Bowen, a psychiatrist, developed a theory in the 1950s that families are systems poised somewhere between emotionally healthy behaviors or at risk of unhealthy behaviors that cause conflict. Since conflict is natural, church leaders are now applying Bowen’s tenets to congregational awareness to affirm ways to be emotionally healthy individuals in an emotionally healthy church.
Bowen’s studies and research continue to be relevant today. And sometimes we need a TV sitcom like “All in the Family” from the 1970s to reveal our personal and cultural values through two characters like Archie and Edith Bunker. What can they teach us about our personal self and our family-of-origin? What can they teach us about our church family?
Warning: This class may cause chemicalization, inability to sleep, desire to blame others, unforgiveness, resentment, and shameful behaviors before you feel the long-term effects of self-forgiveness, self-love, and self-care!

Vegan Cooking Class
With Lisbet Chiriboga

Unity Renaissance Kitchen
Come learn about the health benefits and versatility of jackfruit. This will be a hands-on class where we will prepare jackfruit tacos. Get tips on healthy plant-based eating from the instructor – 23 years vegan. (Gluten-free).
Our routine exploitation of animals for food boomerangs in countless ways affecting both our outer world and the inner landscape of our daily experience. Many people are interested in a more conscious way of living and a vegan diet blends mindfulness and kindness and respect for each other and all expressions of life, creating a practical foundation for harmony and freedom for ourselves and the world.
$40 per person, pre-registration is required. Max of 16 students. Age 18 and up.

Unity Renaissance Search Committee Update
July 6, 2023
As the Search Committee continues their work towards submitting our packet, we wanted to update you on where we are in the process. We have written our introductory paragraph, which highlights our ministry in a nutshell; we have gathered information regarding attendance, mailing list, special groups, number of staff and their positions. We will have the financials within the next week. We are utilizing the information gathered from Rev Bunch’s workshop to determine demographics and what we are looking for in our next minister. The Board of Trustees is meeting to determine compensation range, benefits, possible relocation reimbursement, etc. We are in constant contact with UWM for their guidance as well. We are working on a short video that will highlight Unity Renaissance and the Coastal Virginia area has to offer.
We are working diligently to put together the package. Our goal is to complete the package and submit it by the end of July to UWM. The Committee is meeting weekly and we understand that everyone is anxious for our next minister to arrive. Please continue to hold Unity Renaissance and the Search Committee in prayer as we work together to manifest the best possible candidate for our future.
Blessings and Love,
Your Ministerial Search Committee

Our beloved Mary D’Amato is moving to Sliver Spring, MD within the next few days. Mary will be taking a job with the FDA. Her new title: Associate Director for Professional Development. Upon Mary’s arrival at Unity Renaissance, she immediately became involved with activities. She always helped with our Unity potluck luncheons, helped our ministerial search team do a team-building activity, and took training to be a prayer chaplain. These are just a few of the many ways Mary gave of her talent, time, and treasure to what quickly became her UR home. We will miss you Mary and send our Unity Renaissance best wishes to you on your new adventure. We’ll always think of you fondly!
