The Gnostic Gospels with Rev. Elizabeth Mora, MDiv
September 16, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - September 20, 2019 @ 3:00 pm
1-3 p.m. Monday , Sept. 16 – Friday, Sept. 20
(Approved elective) Based on Elaine Pagels’ award-winning book of the same name, this class is a both a history and summary of the findings within the Nag Hammadi Scrolls. The way in which the scrolls were discovered and then hidden through many years sounds like a TV series, but the subject matter of the scrolls and the teachings of the Gnostics takes Christianity far beyond where the mainstream church has gone. Some people have even gone so far as to call Unity ‘modern-day Gnosticism.” Will you agree with that after taking this class?
About the Instructor
Rev. Elizabeth Mora is the Senior Minister of Unity Northwest Church outside of Chicago. She has been a devoted student of Unity for over 30 years, and her mission is to share the Unity message with as many people as she can. With years of theater experience and a training background, she brings her natural talents to the pulpit on Sunday and to the classroom during the week. “I believe Unity has the message for our times. We are modern, inclusive, relatable, and love-based. When people say they’ve given up on church, I tell them they need to try Unity. We rescue church for people, and I know the world needs us to do that .” Rev. Elizabeth offers an expansive perspective on life and spirituality, using Unity teachings, Christianity, Eastern Philosophy, humor, psychology, story-telling, and sometimes even a chainsaw. If you seek inspiration that honors both the human and the divine, then you’ve found a match in Rev. Elizabeth.
