Description: The Lead Like King Gala is a semi-formal dinner and gala. It is an opportunity to commemorate 50 years of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy of unity in the community. King’s focus on social justice and racial harmony captures the vision at the Urban Renewal Center “to awaken society to its promised wholeness.” The gala will consist of a Southern Soul Food dinner, live entertainment and songs from the Civil Rights Movement, and an awards ceremony. Lead Like King Awards component at the gala will honor transformational leaders, including former Norfolk mayor Paul Fraim, Chief Larry D. Boone and Norfolk Police Department, Rev. Dr. Sharon S. Riley and Faith Deliverance Christian Center, and Dr. Edna Baehre-Kolovani and Tidewater Community College.
